Microscopic examination
The epidermis is of normal thickness. It appears slightly scalloped with no signs of disorganisation.
The basement membrane contains rare apoptotic cells without atypia.
The underlying dermis has a discrete lesion of non-specific capillaritis without vasculitis.
It contains rare pilosebaceous appendages without abnormality.
The collagen fibres appear here of variable thickness, rather short but not fragmented without elastosis.
The hypodermis is discreetly congestive. - Orcein staining shows the presence of fairly rare medium-sized elastic fibres. - Trichrome staining shows clusters of collagenous fibres, often short and fragmented of homogeneous appearance, not dissociated.

Microscopic examination
The epidermis is architecturally preserved with no visible keratinocyte alteration.
The stratum corneum does not appear modified.
The underlying dermis contains discrete lesions of chronic, unenhanced capillaritis. - Staining with orcein shows a slight hyperplasia of the elastotic network, estimated at 15 to 20%, depending on the area, without dissociation or reactive inflammation. - Trichrome staining shows a discrete condensation of collagen fibres whose arrangement and architecture do not appear to be altered.
Conclusie
The effects of NEOCARE ELITE on the sample examined include an increase in the number of elastin fibers estimated at 15 to 20%, associated with a slight densification of collagen fibers.
